Asus Zenbook 17 Fold Oled detailed review

A detailed review of Asus Zenbook 17 Fold Oled

If you have seen, heard, or even used a folding phone, now there is a foldable laptop available. It is called the Asus Zenbook 17.3 Fold OLED. It is the first foldable laptop in the world. When it is unfolded, the screen will be 17.3 inches.

Use in 3 different ways

  1. Like a normal laptop we use.
  2. The keyboard can be detachable, and you can use the device with the screen shaped like an L.

  3. The screen can be fully unfolded until it is flat and then you can use it like a desktop. Also, there is a stand behind the screen. Once the stand is raised, the screen will be 17.3 inches in total, so you can have the same experience as a desktop.

This detachable keyboard is a totally wireless keyboard that works with Bluetooth technology

What comes inside the box :

  1. There is something that resembles a book and I call it a folder. However, I would prefer to call it a cover because whenever I buy a smartphone, some phones come with back covers and some don’t. The key thing is that it protects our device, no matter what device it is.

  2. When unboxing, the laptop comes in a unique and impressive packaging in addition to the main unit. I have never seen a packaging this unique before. Also, the laptop has the appearance of a book when unpacked.

  3. The Bluetooth keyboard that comes with the laptop wirelessly connects, and the keyboard is slim, lightweight, and easy to use.

  4. There is a power cable that will be combined with the adapter and used to charge laptop.

  5. A compact 65W power adapter is included with the power cord and will be used to charge the laptop.

  6. Type C to USB cable.
  7. Some documents and user manual.

Physical overview of laptop

There is a prism effect on the top of the laptop, and the bottom has a matte finish but is made of leather as well. Also, on the top of the laptop, you can see the ASUS logo, which is engraved on the lid.

There appears to be little movement in the leather part of the laptop.

Aside from the vents on the front, there is a Type-C port as well as a mention there that the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED supports Dolby Vison and Dolby ATMOS.

A sound system by Harman Kardon is mentioned on the back side of the device as well as volume rockers.

On the right side of the laptop there are two power buttons, one for the main laptop and one for the keyboard, as well as a charging port.

There is a battery indicator on the left side of the device’s backside, as well as a combo audio jack and a Type C port on the right side.

The leather part of the laptop moves mechanically whenever you fold and unfold it

On the top center of the device, there is a camera that can be used for video calling or any other purpose you may want to use it for.

We have already talked about it. It works just like a normal laptop. The screen is curved, the keyboard can be detachable and placed, the keyboard has a magnetic grip and it is very lightweight. It has a touch screen. Of course, you can use the touch screen. You can also unfold the laptop and raise the stand from the backside to experience a desktop experience.

When you fold and unfold the laptop, it automatically detects that you have done so and properly organizes the layout. It also shows you the option to manually arrange the layout whenever you fold or unfold the laptop.

The laptop is wireless, so you can go bit further from it and still make use of it. Remember, however, that the main processing unit is in the laptop, so remember that all the processing stuff occurs in that main processing unit.

As there is a built-in battery on the keyboard, you will need to charge it using the Type C port on the keyboard.

The laptop does not have an option for a pen, but it is a touchscreen laptop, so of course you can use the touchscreen as well.

With this laptop, you get an Intel Core i7 processor and an IRIS XE video card. The laptop is not going to be used for gaming, but it’s more powerful. The PCMark 10 score was 4940 and the video editing score was close to 4710.

It is very likely that this laptop will be fine for you if you are a content creator, however it is mostly made for business, presentations, and stock market trading purposes.

In terms of the bezels, they are not very slim. This is because it has a folding option. Therefore, you will have to make compromises when dealing with bezels that are less experienced.

As far as the hinge mechanism of the laptop is concerned, it is made of rugged materials and has been tested thirty thousand times. Please bear in mind that the laptop will last a long time, especially when you consider that the hinge mechanism is made up of rugged material.

There are two USB C thunderbolt ports on the laptop which make this laptop very convenient and if you intend to use it primarily for entertainment purposes, you will be happy with it since it supports Wi-Fi 6e. It also comes with quad speakers and an OLED touch screen with validated Pantone colors.
